Will extensions damage my hair?

Done correctly, no. Damage usually comes from extensions that are too heavy for your hair, attachment methods that pull on the root, or going too long without a move-up appointment. IBE® uses small silicone-lined beads to hold the hair in place—no glue, no heat, no tension on the root. If they're sized correctly for your hair and you keep up with move-ups, your natural hair stays healthy underneath.

How much do hair extensions cost in South Tampa?

Price depends on what you're trying to achieve. Want volume without much length? One row is usually enough. Want volume and length? You'll need two rows, sometimes three or four. Most installs are two rows. Our average price for one row of 18" hair, installed, is $750. From there, price depends on length, number of rows, and how much hair is needed to match your density. Coloring your natural hair is additional. We recommend a consultation before booking. We'll look at colors and length options together, and you'll get exact pricing based on your hair.

What's the IBE® method, and how is it different from other extension methods?

IBE® uses small silicone-lined beads to attach extensions to your natural hair — no glue, no heat, no adhesive. That's why we love this method. The beads are clamped and the wefts are sewn onto those beads. K-tips use an adhesive bond to attach individual strands directly to your natural hair. Over time they can clump together and take on a spaghetti-like appearance. Removal also requires a solution to break down the bond, which can be hard on the natural hair.

How long do extensions last with proper maintenance?

The hair itself is typically good for 9-12 months, depending on how well it's cared for. Daily serum, extension-approved products, and a heat protectant every time you use hot tools make a significant difference. We love the Oribe product line for extension care. The install needs a move-up every 6-8 weeks as your natural hair grows — this keeps everything close to the scalp and prevents pulling.

How do I know if IBE® extensions are right for my hair?

IBE® works on almost every hair type — fine hair, thick hair, everything in between — without scalp irritation or damage to your natural hair. That's a big part of why we believe in the method. What we customize is everything else. Placement is tailored to your hair — filling in areas around the face, the sides that won't grow, or adding density in the back. Weft color is matched to exactly the look you're going for. Density is matched to yours so it all comes together and looks like your own hair. How do they stay in, and is it uncomfortable?

It shouldn't be uncomfortable, day one or week six. If something feels tight, that gets fixed — it's not something you live with. Small sections of your natural hair are pulled through tiny silicone-lined beads. The beads are clamped and the extension wefts attach to those beads. No glue, no heat, nothing permanent. Once you're used to them, you forget they're there.

What is lived-in color?

Lived-in color is a low-maintenance color technique that grows out softly instead of leaving a hard line at the roots. It's usually a mix of subtle highlights and lowlights placed to mimic how hair naturally lightens. A root melt or root smudge is done to soften the line where highlights start at the scalp — so as your hair grows, it transitions gradually instead of showing a stark contrast. The goal is fewer salon visits — most clients come in every 10-14 weeks instead of 4-6.

Formulating red requires precision; small differences in ratio change the result more noticeably than with blonde or brown. Our owner Phaedra is our red specialist — and a redhead herself, so she's formulating for hair she understands from the inside out. A full install is typically 2-5 hours, depending on the number of rows and how much hair is being placed. A color service done at the same time adds to that. We schedule enough time so the placement is done right — rushing an install is how beads end up too tight or unevenly placed.

How often do I need touch-ups for extensions or color?

Extensions need a move-up every 6-8 weeks to keep beads close to the scalp as your hair grows. Lived-in color is designed to stretch further — most clients come in every 10-14 weeks. If you have both, we can often time them together. If the schedules don't line up, we can still color your hair with the extensions in.
